Emergency Planning - CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

13 March 2020 (by admin)

Community First Academy Trust would like to assure our parents, staff and children that we are closely monitoring, and following, the latest information and advice issued by Public Health England with regards to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Dear Parent / Carer,

Emergency Planning - CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

You will have noticed that ever since the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Wuhan, China, there are daily updates in the media of the spread of the virus.

In the UK, the Chief Medical Officers have raised the public risk moving from trying to contain the virus to delaying its spread.

The World Health Organisation is also recommending preparing for the eventuality of school closures due to containment of the COVID-19 virus. This means solid plans to ensure the continuity of learning and wellbeing, such as online education strategies.

Community First Academy Trust would like to assure our parents, staff and children that we are closely monitoring, and following, the latest information and advice issued by Public Health England with regards to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

I also want parents and carers to know that the Department for Education is in contact with schools in relation to ongoing advice. Our school has an emergency plan in place for a Pandemic Flu outbreak.

It is possible that schools could be forced to close, major sporting events cancelled and people made to work from home.

We have therefore started planning for a potential school closure in line with our emergency plan.

In the event of a confirmed school closure, pupils will be required to access work set by teachers via Class Dojo. If your child doesn’t currently access Class Dojo, accounts can be set up with a Parent Code or with an email invitation. Parent codes and email invitations will be issued by your child's teacher today in preparation for any future confirmed school closure by government.

We include the current Public Health England advice on the coronavirus for places of education. NHS advice is also available for review by visiting https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Please note that unless such time a closure is confirmed by Government pupils are required to attend school as normal.

Yours sincerely,
