Lead IT Engineer - Rose Bridge Academy

Salary:

Grade 7 (SCP 26 £23,866  to SCP 31 £28,221

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic ICT professional to join our dedicated ICT Team.

This is an essential post to support Rose Bridge Academy and as such the post holder will be expected to provide proactive and reactive hardware, software and peripheral support to all staff, students, Trustees/Governors, visitors and third parties in line with school/academy and Trust requirements.

What are we looking for?

  • An individual that is educated to degree level within an ICT related subject or at least 5 years working as an ICT engineer within the Education Sector
  • Previous experience in an ICT helpdesk/ICT support role in an education establishment
  • Experience supporting a range of technologies, including but not limited to; laptops, PC’s, iPads, Surfaces, Projectors and IWB’s
  • In-depth knowledge in a variety of Audio Visual technologies (including but not limited to interactive TV’s, Projectors Main Hall AV solutions, lighting / sound desks and hazers)
  • Detailed understanding of the latest Microsoft Windows Operating Systems & Microsoft Office packages
  • Approachable, confident and articulate – the post holder will need the ability to convey technical issues / resolutions to users with a varying level of IT

The role will be based in Wigan, but there will require some travel to schools throughout the Trust.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Educated to degree level within an ICT related subject or at least 5 years working as an ICT engineer within the Education Sector
  • Working towards/willingness to work towards ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate in Service Management
  • Previous experience in an ICT helpdesk/ICT support role in an education establishment
  • Experience supporting a range of technologies, including but not limited to; laptops, PC’s, iPads, Surfaces, Projectors and IWB’s

Job Purpose:

  • To provide ongoing support of technical expertise and knowledge within the school and trust.
  • To ensure that all systems are working at optimal levels and support the development of new
  • technologies and system requirements, whilst supporting the existing environment.
  • To assist in giving technical advice to assist the delivery of the ICT vision, policy and strategies and support, maintenance and development of all ICT functions within the Trust.

This role will be primarily based in Wigan but will include some presence across the North West.

We are currently seeking to appoint a focused professional who will support the Trust’s end user environment, servers, networking and staff to meet both the needs of schools and the strategic ICT objectives of the Trust.  In return, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact within the Trust and benefit from excellent professional developmental opportunities.

The successful candidate will build on the support function of the ICT Team in the delivery of the ICT Strategy to the Trust and its schools.  The ideal candidate will be highly organised, have experience of supporting an office environment, along with educational experience and be highly proficient in the use MS Office software packages and other technologies as required.

With a programme of delivering new build schools, through to a new Trust-wide ICT platform, this is a unique opportunity for a well-organised and focused professional to join a highly successful, and rapidly expanding Trust. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • GCSE at A*-C in English, Maths and ICT/Computing or equivalent
  • A Levels or equivalent ICT qualification
